There’s a growing belief among some investors and their advisers that hedge funds should not always be considered a stand-alone asset class but should, instead, be better integrated into a fund’s overall investment portfolio.

Gurnani recently co-authored a white paper — with colleague Ludger Hentschel, head of quantitative research at Investcorp, and Christopher Vogt, portfolio manager for hedge funds at Allstate Investments — entitled "Hedge Funds Are Not an Asset Class."
