Hedge fund marketing is an increasingly technical field, a trend that putsGarrett Bergat an advantage given his ability to speak knowledgeably about the products he sells. Berg is co-head of sales and investor relations for the Americas at London-based BlueCrest Capital Management, the $35.3 billion global macro manager whose flagship commodity trading adviser and discretionary macro funds have enjoyed great success post-2008. Since inception the firm’s $14.3 billion BlueCrest Capital International fund has returned an annualized 12.7 percent. Connecticut native Berg, 30, began his career in 2005 as a consultant with Oliver Wyman’s financial services division in New York after graduating from Providence College with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and finance. He gained valuable insight into the hedge fund industry by advising many of the big banks as they sought out and worked with hedge fund clients. Berg moved to BlueCrest in 2008, working in London for two years before returning to the U.S. He’s based in New York. |
