The 2017 Tech 40: Jim Minnick

40. Jim Minnick
Chief Executive Officer
eVestment
Last year: 42

Jim Minnick, chief executive officer of eVestment, says the data and analytics provider for institutional investors captures more information than any other firm in its field. Quantity only begins to attract consultants and other clients to eVestment, which Minnick, his wife Karen, and two former Watson Wyatt & Co. colleagues co-founded in Atlanta in 2000. Data on a diverse range of asset classes, along with user-friendly interfaces and tools, keeps the customers coming back and attracts new ones. "We are always looking at the infrastructure, continually reassessing the technology and ways to streamline the platform," Minnick, 47, says. In April the company started offering an iPhone app, part of a strategy to accommodate the different needs of users of a range of media. Also addressing usability is the Sales Dashboard, introduced in February, for asset management sales professionals to collect and present data without having to call on analytics specialists. Minnick noted at the time that clients were asking for ways to get at the data "faster and easier and oftentimes on the fly." Additional dashboards tailored for C-suite executives, portfolio managers, and others are scheduled to roll out this year.
