Mumbai-basedMitali Ghoshguides the Bank of America Merrill Lynch duo to a second straight appearance in second place. The researchers, who report on 12 companies, win praise for “quick responses to client requests and accurate earnings forecasts,” as one money manager puts it. “We do not expect a sharp rebound in revenue,” Ghosh says, although some companies could benefit from pent-up demand. “Market share gains will be key, based on exposure to growth markets, client relationships, differentiation through consulting and intellectual property, and higher productivity.” Among large-cap stocks, the team recommends two India-based providers of information technology services: HCL Technologies and Tata Consultancy Services. Top pick among midcaps is India’s Tech Mahindra, owing to anticipated synergies from its pending acquisition of Mahindra Satyam and a strengthened competitive position for both companies.. —Carolyn Koo
