Industries: Luxury Goods – First

Francesca DiPasquantonio, Alexander (Warwick) Okines & team, Deutsche Bank

The buy side says: “They’re super on top of company news and results.”

After two years in the runner-up position, the Deutsche Bank trio piloted by Francesca DiPasquantonio and Alexander (Warwick) Okines catapults to the top. DiPasquantonio, who works out of Milan, received a laurea degree in economics from that city’s Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi and worked in corporate finance at Merrill Lynch and ING Barings before joining UniCredit as a luxury goods analyst; the 44-year-old moved to Deutsche in 2005. London-based Okines, 33, earned a master’s degree in history from Oxford University, then joined the firm as a retail analyst in 2001; he switched to covering this sector in 2006. DiPasquantonio says that despite opportunities in China and other fast-growing emerging economies, the team is increasingly cautious on the space, thanks to an uncertain macroeconomic environment. Still, she and her associates consider French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton to be one of the few solid bets in the sector because of its wide diversification across products, price points and regions.
