European markets also are expected to be big winners, seeing investment by U.S.-based funds soaring by almost one-third to $437 billion in 2008. Latin America and other emerging markets likewise are expected to see investments by U.S. hedge funds grow by about 33%, though TABB points out the U.S. will see increases but at a much smaller pace. "The amount of capital invested in the U.S. make it difficult to find opportunities," TABB stated in its report, which it explains is an update of one it released in May. TABB senor research analyst Adam Sussman told Reuters that volatility in emerging markets is not likely to discourage HFs the way it might affect individual investors. "I don't think they are going to be scared off by a few volatile months. Long term, more and more hedge funds are going to be invested in emerging markets."
