HSBC To Close Russian Retail Unit

HSBC Holdings is shutting down its retail-banking business in Russia.

    HSBC Holdingsis shutting down its retail-banking business in Russia,The Wall Street Journalreports. The lender will continue to maintain its office in the country for corporate clients.

    HSBC, which started retail operations in Russia in mid-2009, has urged customers to close their accounts by June 30, addsReuters. HSBC set up four branch offices in central Moscow and one in St. Petersburg.
