European Central Bank Gets New President

The European Union has named Mario Draghi as president of the European Central Bank.

    The European Union has namedMario Draghias president of theEuropean Central Bank,Reutersreports. He will succeed outgoing French representativeJean-Claude Trichet.

    Draghi will be the second Italian on the bank’s six-person executive board afterLorenzo Smaghi. Previously, Draghi has served atGoldman Sachsas an advisor.
