Goldman Sachs is planning to cut as much as 230 jobs in New York due to economic crisis.

    Goldman Sachsis planning to cut as much as 230 jobs in New York due to economic crisis,The Wall Street Journalreports. The number of layoffs will represent less than 1% of the 35,400 worldwide employees of the lender.

    The job cuts will take place during the fourth quarter of 2011 and first quarter of 2012. Separately, Goldman is also seeking to hire employees in countries, such as Singapore, Brazil and India.
