In third place for a second straight year is Shaojing Tong. Clients say the BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research analyst has an “uncanny ability to spot a trend,” a talent that enables him to make “rock-solid stock selections.” One example: Tong initiated coverage on Sino Biopharmaceutical in August, at HK$2.61, on the strength of the Hong Kong–based drugmaker’s “premier industry position, blockbuster product portfolio and strong sales force,” among other factors. The stock shot up a healthy 8.4 percent, to HK$2.83, and led the sector by 10.5 percentage points, through April.
