The U.S.Commodity Futures Trading Commission(CFTC) is likely to vote on September 22 to complete Dodd-Frank Act limits on speculative trading in commodities,Bloombergreports. CFTC commissioners will vote on the position-limits rule and regulations governing derivatives clearinghouses next month.
The position-limits measure, which focuses on restricting the influence of big traders in commodities markets, was proposed in January. The Dodd-Frank Act seeks to lower risk and boost transparency in the $601 trillion over-the-counter swaps market. Trades conducted by companies such asJPMorgan ChaseandGoldman Sachswill be governed by the rules.
