RBS Begins Round 2 For Aviation Unit Bidders

Royal Bank of Scotland is in the process of selecting second-round bidders for its aircraft-leasing business.

    Royal Bank of Scotland(RBS) is in the process of selecting second-round bidders for its aircraft-leasing business,The Wall Street Journalreports. RBS is seeking to raise between $6 billion and $8 billion from the sale. It had received 10 bids by the September 9 deadline.

    A consortium led byMacquarie GroupandTerra Firma, which will combineRBS Aviation Capitalwith existing aircraft-leasing businessAwas, may be one of the bidders. The New York–listedAir Lease Corp.,Bank of ChinaandGeneral Electric Co.are among those who have bid. RBS appointedGoldman Sachs Groupin July to handle the sale process.
