Methodology

To select the members ofInstitutional Investor’s sixth All-India Sales Team, we invited participants in the 2017 All-India Research Team survey to rank (1st -4th) generalist salespeople based on 8 attributes. We combined each firm’s individuals to form a team, which was then used to create the Top 10 Leader’s Table.

We received 257 responses from buy-side analysts and money managers at 157 firms that collectively manage an estimated $147 billion in Indian equity assets. About 66 percent of the people who cast votes in the research team survey, representing 69 percent of the participating buy-side institutions, answered our question about the best sales teams.

We weighted votes by a respondent’s Indian equity assets under management and by the place awarded (first through fourth). The names of those surveyed and the institutions they work for are kept confidential to ensure their continuing cooperation. Voters must meet eligibility requirements, and winners must achieve a minimum vote count. All ballots are subject to review by our Research Operations Group, and final results may be inspected by an independent auditor.

The 2017 All-India Sales Team was compiled by Researcher Amy Tan under the guidance of Associate Research Editor Denise Hoguet and Senior Research Editor Tucker Ewing.
